Drilleys was founded in 2005 in a Florida-based handicraft workshop run by Jackson King and Jay Stipe, a pair of top shoes designers who believed passionately that fashion and function shouldn′t have to be sacrificed for each other.
Drilleys was originally created to fill what the designers saw as a significant gap in the market; fashionable and practical items for busy women, including women of all ages, from students, young urban professionals, travelers, to housewives, retirees, and more. Women of all ages share a desire to express their personal style, but fashion items don’t often correspond with the modern woman’s busy life. Drilleys was founded to make accessories that would meet the needs of these stylish, moving women!
Drilleys began in 2005 in Florida as a slip-on shoe company specializing in espadrilles, a comfortable and stylish footwear. Soon after, our interest in echo-friendly materials led us to expand our reach to more styles of shoes and tote bags.
What We're Doing : We strive to make accessories that aren′t just beautiful and comfortable, but in an environmentally conscientious way. We use organic cotton, linen, hand-dyed fabrics and recycled materials to build our products. We prefer no-waste pattern-making and production, and design everything locally in Florida, USA.
For our 10th anniversary, Drilleys® released the “DRILLEYS STRIPE” line.
The original DrilleysTM shoes we redesigned with stripes of the official Florida state colors. We loved the enthusiasm and brightness of the stripes, and used them as premise for the Drilleys Stripes collection. All the items are created with our unique sense of intricate construction and artistic design, a spirit we use to build all of our bags and shoes for Drilleys.
Espadrille shoes, or espadrilles, are a popular and simple flat casual shoe.
They originated in the Pyrenees Mountains and have been in continuous production in the Mediterranean area for over 700 years.
They are often handmade using materials such as hemp or jute to create strong, lightweight, and flexible soles.
In the mid-twentieth century, espadrilles began to gain popularity in the public eye, thanks to celebrities such as Grace Kelly, John F. Kennedy, Earnest Hemingway and Pablo Picasso. These famous names helped turned the once peasant footwear into a worldwide sensation.
Drilleys USA® espadrilles endeavor to remain true to the shoe’s traditional design but with updated fabrics, colors, and accents.
Drilleys Espadrilles brand produces authentic espadrilles in the rich 700-year Spanish and French Mediterranean tradition. With natural jute, hemp, and cotton material used for construction, our shoes are healthy, stylish, and environmentally friendly. Click through the collection to shop men’s, women’s, or children’s’ espadrilles, or use our search function to see the full range of colors and patterns. We offer a range of styles to suit your fancy, from urban, campus, to seaside styles and more.
No shoe fits better than an authentic handmade espadrille!
The sole is made of braided and coiled natural fibers. It is firm but pliable. As you wear the shoe, the fibers of the sole will naturally confirm to the unique shape of your foot, which gives you a healthy and relaxing stride. It often takes a day or two to get used to this new liberated feeling, but 700 years of history has shown the benefit.
You may want to wear your Drilleys inside on a carpeted surface for the first few days to make sure the fit is right and to give the shoe time to adapt to your foot. Thanks for visiting us and we hope you enjoy your Drilleys Espadrilles!
Your new Drilleys might fit smaller than any shoe you’ve ever worn before, but as they stretch to uniquely fit your foot, the result is like walking at one with Mother Earth.
Make sure your Drilleys fit snugly in the toe and don’t slip off your heel.
Wear them 2-3 times indoors for a few minutes at a time until they fit just like your perfect jeans!
